INDIA | WEST RAJASTHAN

The Path to West Rajasthan uncovers a unique experience of Rajasthan; while many choose to visit the popular sites of the “Golden Triangle”, the extraordinary experiences of the countryside are unfortunately overlooked.

Your journey begins in Jodhpur, a favourite of ours, and then a drive west into the desert to Jaisalmer, a former caravanserai of the Silk Route, where a walk through its narrow streets uncovers the marvel of intricately carved Jain temples and private havelis that deck out this ancient fortress city. On our return to Jodhpur, a visit to the imposing Meharangarh Fort is a must-do, as well as a walk through the streets of The Blue City to get acquainted with the local way of life. At Jawai Banh, the Path includes a terrific oppurtunity to see leopards in their natural habitat with a stay at Sujan Jawai Leopard Camp.

With some of the best guides, leopard sightings are almost a surety. After the experience of wildlife, the journey continues to the lake city of Udaipur to visit to the City Palace. Albeit a little touristy, Udaipur is indeed an intresting city; but we much prefer to stay an hour out of Udaipur at a palace fortress overlooking the Aravalli Hills in the village of Delwara.

India - Devigarh

RAAS Devigarh

Nestled in the Aravalli Hills of the Udaipur area, RAAS Devigarh is an 18th century palace which has been transformed into one of the premier five star hotels in Rajasthan. The palace was restored to its former glory in 1999 and converted into an all-suite luxury hotel that mixes the modern, minimalist design of its interior with the ancient and ornate architecture of its exterior.
