INDIA | SOUTH RAJASTHAN

Rajasthan, which quite literally translates to the ‘Land of Kings’, is a colourful land rich with a melange of massive forts, stunning palaces, diverse cultures, delectable cuisines, warm people and magnificent terrain. The Path to South Rajasthan uncovers a path less travelled. Your journey begins at the City of Lakes, Udaipur, before heading towards the outskirts for the village of Delwara to stay in a palace fort overlooking the Aravalli Hills. From here, the journey east leads to the city of Chittogarh—famous for its stories of battle—and then to Bhainsrorgarh to witness the marvel of The Baroli Temples—that consist of structures built in the Gurjara-Pratihara architectural style with some exquisitely carved stonework. Your journey gradually meanders north, towards Jaipur to stay with a family amongst some breathtaking countryside at Shahpura. A visit to the Pink City of Jaipur will cap off the journey wonderfully before it concludes among the Aravalli Range at Amanbagh, close to the town of Ajabgarh, just an hour and a half from Jaipur.

ACCOMMODATION

These are a selection of lodges that we feel combine well for this journey. However we do also have a range of options to consider in each region, and can tailor them to you preference.

India - Devigarh

RAAS Devigarh

Nestled in the Aravalli Hills of the Udaipur area, RAAS Devigarh is an 18th century palace which has been transformed into one of the premier five star hotels in Rajasthan. The palace was restored to its former glory in 1999 and converted into an all-suite luxury hotel that mixes the modern, minimalist design of its interior with the ancient and ornate architecture of its exterior.

India - Bhainsrorgarh Fort Hotel

Bhainsrorgarh Fort Hotel

Dramatically perched on a steep slate ridge 200 feet high over the shimmering Chambal river, Bhainsrorgarh Fort is a sight to behold. Since 2006, the royal family-in-residence has been welcoming guests to experience the amazing atmosphere, views, service and meals that come with each remarkable stay at this incredible fort.

Shahpura Bagh

Shahpura bagh prides itself on providing an authentic bespoke home stay experience in Rajasthan. Legendary forts, lively safaris and wetlands are an excursion away from this home stay where life is unhurried and days are filled with sunshine, lake activities and blazing sunsets.

India - Amanbagh

Amanbagh

Once the staging area for royal hunts, Amanbagh is an oasis among the Aravalli mountain range. Its sandstone and pink marble walls now offer tranquil refuge as a Rajasthani retreat informed by Mughal style. The region around Amanbagh invites exploration—temples and forts showcase their history and legend while lakeside dinners, picnics and yoga sessions can also be arranged.
