SPAIN | MADRID

Spain - Madrid

To discover Madrid is to fall in love with its unique contrasts—majestic palaces alongside towering skyscrapers, traditional eateries by contemporary experimental fine dining establishments, the old masters juxtaposed with modern works. Madrid is a city where we indulge in the best cuisine, wine, art and architecture. Madrid is a large capital, and several days can be spent exploring the hot spots to its nooks and crannies. The city is home to The Golden Triangle of Art, running from the Museo Nacional Centro in the south to the Museo del Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza in the north. Observe some of the best collections of Spanish and European art as insight into Spain’s rich cultural heritage. We then connect on a more personal level with the local culture, meeting with craftsmen of traditional instruments, tapestries and jewellery.

From Madrid, we take a quick drive to Toledo. Perched on a hill above high plains and overlooking the Tagus River, this ancient city is a beautiful town with an incredible legacy of churches, palaces, mosques, synagogues and homes telling the story of its complex past. We lose ourselves in the labyrinth of cobblestone streets flanked by medieval walls, artisan shops and galleries.

Then we set off on another day trip, this time to Segovia. The little city hosts an array of architectural treasures including royal palaces, ancient castles, Roman ruins and a stunning Gothic cathedral. We are transported back in time to see how this little town evolved through the ages, from visiting the 2000-year-old aqueduct to the hilltop Alcázar (fortress), shaped like the bow of a ship.
