The Path to Hsipaw is filled with adventure and discovery. The journey begins at Yangon, to explore the sights and sounds of this bustling city, track down ancient temples and visit the small villages that are unique and atypical to certain areas of Myanmar.
A short flight to Lashio takes us to the Shan villages in Hsipaw, a town known for its stunning scenery. Visit the bustling markets where the local Shan as well as the neighbouring Pa O people congregate. Learn about their trademark goods like cheroots (Burmese cigars) and textiles. Cap your day off by letting one of the local families host you with a traditional home-cooked meal.
The journey continues north-east on a scenic train ride through beautiful Shan mountains, as well as what was once the second higest railway bridge, to Pyin Oo Lwin.
In Mandalay, a boat ride will take you to the venerated Mingun Bell, which once held the title as the heaviest bell in the world.
Before the journey concludes, we take a short plane ride to Heho to visit floating villages and gardens or float ourselves up high in a hot air balloon to take in some magnificent views.
These are a selection of lodges that we feel combine well for this journey. However we do also have a range of options to consider in each region, and can tailor them to you preference.
