Georgia

With the ravishing Caucasus mountain range spanning from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea coast, land here is rich and fertile. Valleys are undulating, speckled with wildflowers and cornered by snow-capped peaks. Driving through the country is an experience in itself, with captivating views to accompany you along the way. The capital, Tbilisi, is a vibrant mixture of the historic old town and cosmopolitan city centre. Here, we walk alongside mosques, standing side by side Victorian villas, medieval churches and cosy streetside cafés. As we venture out into the hills, we continue to discover the heritage, with a stop at the ancient kingdom capital of Mtskheta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further north, we observe the majestic Caucasus Mountains, and its various hiking trails. With time, we also stop at Kazbegi with its lush valleys, as well as Svaneti, dotted with medieval villages and home to a delicious salt blend incorporating fenugreek, marjoram and Tellicherry black pepper. Cuisine throughout the country is both simple and diverse, with a plethora of dining options in the capital reinventing traditional dishes, to restaurants perfecting the famous Georgian dumplings, khinkali. Georgia has also one of the oldest wine-making regions in the world, and we make sure to tour its vineyards sampling especially their delicious amber varieties. Together with Armenia and Azerbajan, the area forms the Caucasus and can be combined to form a beautiful, memorable journey.
