MYANMAR | THE CLASSIC

The Path to Yandabo begins at the city of Yangon, through restless markets and busy streets, where the fusion of historical and contemporary architecture is a compelling backdrop to its urban life.

The journey continues to Mandalay with a boat ride into the spiritual heartland of Upper Burma for its numerous gillded stupas and white-washed monasteries. In Yandabo Village—only accessible by motorbike or boat—we learn about its inhabitants’ well-known talent for pottery.

Visit a market in Pakokku before taking a boat down the Irrawaddy River to Bagan. Journey through the pagoda-studded landscape that surrounds this ancient city; a jeep ride will take you to the awe-inspiring temples and a climb up to the top of some will reward you with incredible views of the surrounding lands. If the season fits, take in the sights from 600 metres above ground in a hot air balloon.

At the stilted villages along Inle Lake, you can take a boat ride to the floating gardens and savour a traditional lunch in the home of an Intha family.
