The Path to Hovsgol Rivercamps is a remarkable river trip through the canyons of Mongolia’s most scenic river valley located in a remote area close to Lake Khovsgol. A string of comfortable ger camps are set up along the river as we float from camp to camp over 3 to 4 days. While the river is remote and difficult to access, travelling by boat is the best way to properly discover the canyons. The journey begins at the head of the canyon and ends when it reaches the steppes. As it carves through limestone and granite, the valley is flanked by spectacular cliffs and rock pinnacles.
Each morning streams you to another section of the river. You will have the choice to paddle yourself along the river on raft, or to be rowed along by one of the crew on boat. These morning trips are punctuated by riverside BBQ lunches and short hikes to scenic lookouts before reaching the next camp. This experience can easily be combined with either the Ikh Nart or the Jalman Meadows experiences; and because it is one of the best fly fishing experiences in Asia, this has to be a must-do for keen anglers.
