Transylvania & Maramures
The journey begins at the capital city of Bucharest for its rejuvenated Old Town, trendy restaurants and excellent museums.
After Bucharest, we visit the country’s most famous region, Transylvania. Home to some of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns like Brasov, Sighisoara and Sibiu, that are dramatically surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. With enchanting town plazas, Saxon villages with UNESCO-heritage fortified churches, castles cloaked in the mystery of Count Dracula and rolling hills framed by snow-capped mountains, we experience the very best that this culturally diverse region has to offer.
The journey concludes at the Maramures, the most traditional region in Romania. Relive a bygone era of rural life and peasant culture where many of its century-old customs are still part of daily life—folk dresses are still worn by locals, wooden gates are exquisitely carved and churches are made of wood.
