Explore the exciting city of Yangon—the historical landmarks, the Yangon River and the best hidden spots in town.

Visit the Shan villages in Hsipaw, a town known for its stunning scenery. Take a 4.5 hour train ride to Pyin Oo Lwin through the beautiful Shan mountains and cross what was once the second highest railway bridge in the world.

Then onto Mandalay, the last royal capital of Myanmar, and the home of some ancient temples—like the famous cracked temple and the Mahamuni pagoda, where the legendary gold Buddha is. Stroll through the quiet village of Amarapura and stop by the U-Bein bridge to taste some Mandalay rum.

After Mandalay is a visit to Yandabo—only accessible by motorbike or boat—where its residents take great pride in their own pottery creations, that also serve as vessels to store water and food.

Journey through the pagoda-studded landscape that surrounds Bagan; a jeep ride will take you to the awe-inspiring temples—climb up to the top of some and be rewarded with incredible views of the surrounding lands. If the season fits, take in the sights from 600m above ground in a hot air balloon.

Visit the bustling markets at Inle Lake where the local Shan as well as the neighbouring Pa O people congregate. Learn about their trademark goods, like cheroots (Burmese cigars) and their textiles.

It is free and easy at the end, with the sandy beaches of Ngapali as the perfect backdrop for relaxation.
